5 out of 5 stars Incredible difference   August 4, 2007

This swim system made an incredible difference in how my son would preform at the pool. We went from being scared to death and hanging on to me for dear life to jumping off the side of the pool and submerging his head under water. And having a wonderful time while doing it! This has given him such confidence and security to really play and have a great time.

5 out of 5 stars Independent swim float   July 19, 2007

This is a great flotation device that allows my 31/2 year old to feel confident and comfortable in the water. She moves freely in the water when wearing this and it allows me to tend to my other child. She also feels safe enough to really practice the basic movements of swimming.

2 out of 5 stars This product cut my child's legs   July 17, 2007

I know many have had great experiences with this product. We didn't have the opportunity to have such great success. The clip between my daughter's legs chafed the inside of her thighs terribly. They are extremely raw and red. I'm returning it to the store. I had the proper size for my daughter, so fit isn't the issue.

5 out of 5 stars This thing works!   July 13, 2007

Both of my boys learned to swim independently after using this vest and I just got my little girl one so she can as well. The design allows no slipping of the floats. It fits snugly to your child's chest and puts them in the correct postion to paddle around.

Over the course of the summer and on the sly, I removed foam sections as the boys got better and stronger until there was barely enough foam to hold them up and they had to paddle and tread water to stay afloat.

They could do it because of the confidence and freedom from fear this device gave them.

I remember the day my oldest took it off and told me to let him go, he could "do it himself". Great moment!

I would recommend buying a new one for each child since the fabric does get stretched out (not before your child outgrows the need for it though!).

Well worth the price. You won't regret it when the death grip on your neck is released and your child paddles away under their own power!

5 out of 5 stars My Hero!!!   May 21, 2007

With summer approaching, I was really looking forward to being able to swim with my twin daughters. But as anyone with a kid knows, its hard to enjoy yourself with a kid on each hip for a couple of hours! I was hesitant to buy a swim vest, as I had mostly heard negative things about them. But the price was right, and after reading all the reviews on here, I decided to take the plunge and buy them anyway. I'm so glad I did!
This vest provides the perfect amount of bouyancy while still making them work hard to swim. Although the vests will keep them afloat, I still recommend complete adult supervision. While wearing them the water comes up to just under their chin, and their faces can still still go under water. When they get tired, or if I'm just looking for a little more independence for myself, I throw floaties on their arms and this makes them completely independent with little effort or discomfort.
One final note - I'm not sure if I would recommend this vest for a child who isn't very comfortable with water already. As I previously said, your child will have to work to keep his face out of the water, and if he isn't very comfortable in the water it might send him into a panic. But if you use it with water wings as well you should be fine.
