Having fun making ice cream April 21, 2008 We bought this as a special treat for a daycare I work for. Everyone who helps roll the ball gets to share in the ice cream, just like the little red hen making her bread! No one wanted to help but everyone wanted to share in the eating......great lesson and a nice reward too!
Fun, but a few drawbacks April 15, 2008 This is a super idea and a lot of fun but there are a few drawbacks. It takes 15 minutes in 2 intervals to roll the thing, and time seems to pass slowly on that second pass. I did it with 3 children, and all of our attention spans waned. And unless you really keep the momentum going, it doesn't freeze all the way so you have to eat runny ice cream or roll for a bit longer. The ball itself is also very hard so you have to be careful if you are doing this with kids. But all the flavors you can create are a lot of fun, and it's a great concept.
What a fun idea! April 14, 2008 I bought three of these for each of my children (ages 3-12) for Easter. Our family had such a good time rolling the balls around on the floor and the time went by very quickly. I read several reviews prior to purchasing and I'm so glad I didn't listen to the people who can't seem to make this work. The ice cube maker in our freezer had enough ice (cresent shaped cubes) for all three balls (including the refill after 10 minutes). We used wooden spoons to scrape the sides of the ice cream canister and it worked fine. You do need to be careful that the spoon doesn't slip while scraping the harded ice cream and slosh the still liquid contents out of the ball, but after doing the first one we didn't have any trouble. The ice cream tasted great. We also bought the flavor pack listed along with this product and all the flavors were just like store bought. I definitely recommend this product for anyone who loves ice cream and wants to enjoy a fun time with family and friends. If you're too uptight to have some fun with it, just go buy your ice cream at the store.
Plastic Junk from China April 9, 2008 4 out of 13 found this review helpful
Don't waste your money on this piece if plastic junk from China! This thing lures you in with it's pretty colors and then disappoints with it's difficulty of use. It holds only two cups, which isn't worth all the effort to make really bad ice cream. Yes, it's only 20 bucks, but it will end up on your yard sale this summer for sure. If you want an ice cream maker, don't be lured in by the pretty colors of this "Made in China" junk ... go get the real thing and make some descent ice cream.

The product came very swiftly and in mint condition! Also, good packaging as to not destroy item when in delivery process!
