Very nice product October 3, 2008 After looking around for a couple of weeks I decided to get this door gym. It came in a big oversized box with a lot of packing paper (The bar was on the bottom tough). Assembling it was a breeze, just look at the pictures. The door gym did fit very good into the door opening and I use it now every time I'm near it. It is to early to tell if it makes me stronger however I think it is getting easier all the time. It is sturdy and light weight and can be removed in seconds. Compared to other similar products I chosen this one because of ppositive feedback and free S&H.
Creative Fitness Pullup Bar Assessment October 1, 2008 This pullup bar is easy to assemble and functions well enough; however, although it fits the inside doors of the house very well, they are trimmed with a soft wood and this bar will deface that trim. We will not use it indoors. We do use it on the door of our detached garage that is used primarily as a weight room. Safety-wise, you have to ensure to maintain the force of weight on the bar while using and not jump or kick out too aggressively else it could slip from its grip. The small stabilizer clip on the wall brace side must be used for extra hold. The main problem is the width of our garage door. This exercise bar barely fits on that width, resting on the trim by the edge of the bar by a quarter inch either side. If this bar could be modular to adjust or extend by 3-4 inches with added foam pads, it would be perfect for a range of door widths. Even though forty bucks isn't overly expensive for serious 'gymnists', I believe it is priced too high. There are similar units I've found consequently that are $10-15 cheaper. We use it, we'll keep it. b2
It's not that creative, but it's awesome! September 30, 2008 Easy to put together, to install, to remove, and to store. I love it!
Creative Fitness Door Gym -- Truly Creative September 29, 2008 All too often, the word "creative" in a producct name is nothing more than typical marketing ballyhoo. Not so in this case. This bar is easy to install in any standard 2' 4" to 2' 8" door and it is amazingly stable once installed. Great product. Worth every penny.
Now can somebody invent something to motivate me to use it every day?
Gets you by when the gym isn't available September 29, 2008 The door gym works with most walls. Unfortunately, I cannot use it downstairs with the wall thickness being over 8" but it does work upstairs where the walls are about 4". The height of my door is about 6'5" so I can't do pull ups without having to curl up my legs to keep me off the floor. I would not consider it a portable gym because it is a bulky product once assembled and it doesn't fold in any way. If it does work for your door, it will serve it's purpose and I've been very satisfied with it. It serves bonus features as a push-up bar and a sit up spotter which I haven't tried since I prefer leg lifts and the Perfect Push Up.
