Great bang for the buck! September 4, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I hiked to the summit of Mt. Washington with this stick and it was a blessing. I only paid $14.99 for it and I can't imagine the more high scale models that go for $100+ are all that much better. I've read reviews on some of the more expensive ones and it seems they have the same issues from time to time. Save yourself a small fortune and get yourself one of these.
Great trekking pole August 23, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although it is my first trekking pole. I really don't have others to compare it to. Just used it for our Half Dome hike and it worked great. The pole was light, very sturdy, handle felt good, and for the most part the pole was easy to adjust. I didn't need the tiny compass on the head of the handle, but I can see how it can be handy. Overall it is a great trekking pole.
Too weak... February 26, 2007 After the second day of hard trekking (Climbing Roraima, Venezuela) it bended... maybe it will work for training purposes only.
Worked great until it broke February 7, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
This pole was great for the 2 days that it worked. The compass in the handle is cool (but sometimes requires shaking) and the overall design is comfortable. The removable head was helpful when hiking through ice and the stabilizer worked well in mud.
I was loving every minute I had this thing until the metal gizmo that allows it to extend snapped inside. I would be willing to forgive this product, but once it fell apart and I looked inside, the design just looked flimsy. While this may have been a biased opinion (since I made it while trying to bushwhack up a mountain with a broken pole), it was certainly justified at the time.
My advice: Shell out the bucks for a better one.
Good cheap pole February 7, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a good pole for the price. One problem with the pole is that it is difficult to extend because the tubes are tight. It is easy to pull it apart because there is not detent or stop and a pain to reassemble.
