You get what you pay for March 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The only thing this kit is useful for is cooking something in another pot or pan and then merely using this kit as a container on which to hold / eat your food. Sure, it's light, but it is also horribly made. It bends under little pressure, and it got warped after the first use, so it packs loose and falls apart at the slightest nudge.
Coleman makes many great products... This is just not one of them.
Cheaper at Target February 22, 2008 I bought this for my nephew and had it shipped to him. The set is great quality, but wish I had purchased it at Target and saved some money. Target sells them for $4.94.
Poor Quality January 25, 2008 This little kit looks good and the price is right, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. You might be better off carrying a roll of heavy duty aluminum foil! It is light weight, which is good, but I want something in my backpack I'm not afraid to bang around. Spend a few extra dollars and get something with more quality.
It is what it is. December 21, 2007 This is a cheap mess kit for one. It is lightweight. Not for a hardcore camper, but good for the person who goes 1 to 2 times a year. Compact. I agree with what others said about the pot that boils, but if you make the right contraption out in the wild, you can make ANYTHING work for you.
Not for heavy use November 9, 2007 This is a very light and easy to carry aluminum kit. In fact, it is so light, that it got bent a little in my backpack when I went camping. The kit IS very flimsy, and there is no protection from the heat included. I did not dare put it directly on the flame for fear of getting burned, so I heated up water on something else. If you are going to get this, I recommend that you buy some protective gear: things, gloves, etc.
All in all, it served its purpose, I just needed hot water. But if you need a mess kit to last a while, this is not the item for you. This one does not seem very durable.
