Are you tired of using your controller to watch DVDs? Are you use to having a remote in your hand to pause, forward, reverse, and jump to main menu while watching DVDs? Well here's is what the doctor ordered....The new Sony PS3 Blue Ray DVD Remote. It's slim, light weight, and easy to handle. JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED.

I consider this a must have accessory for the PS3 if you are going to watch DVDs. The remote works great and the layout is even better than the remote that came with my other DVD player. You can also use this remote to control the navigation of the PS3 online so if you are not a gamer, you can put away the wireless gaming controller that came with the PS3. If you are a gamer, this DVD remote works perfectly fine with the gaming controllers too.

I actually like this remote in terms of layout and functionality (and bluetooth is nice actually since you don't need to point it at the PS3), but not having it backlit was a terrible decision by Sony. For $25 they can't even put in a light so you can see which tiny button you're pressing while you're watching your (decidedly unimpressive) blu-ray movie?!

If you have a PS3 and use it either to watch DVDs or Blu Ray discs, this is a must have accessory. It isn't necessary if you are just going to use the PS3 for gaming. Since I purchased a PS3, I've used it about 90% of the time for watching Blu Ray movies and 10% of the time for gaming. Since I beat Resistance: Fall of Man, I've not had much else to play on the system. Hopefully that ratio will begin to balance out with newer, more promising games coming out (Motorstorm, Lair, Warhawk, Devil May Cry 4, MGS4, etc.)
One thing I noticed when using the Sixaxis to control movies was that the trigger buttons were easily pressed by setting the controller down. This would either cause the movie to begin FF or REW. That was annoying. Since I use the PS3 so much for watching movies, this was an accessory I was happy to see hit the market.
It is pretty much a standard Sony remote. I have several Sony TVs, and this remote is shaped very much like them. It will function exactly as you would expect and it makes watching movies a lot easier than utilizing the Sixaxis. This will be money well-spent if you use the PS3 for movies!
