5 out of 5 stars Great product   July 7, 2008

I already owned one of these which I purchased from a local camera store I wanted another, but they never seem to have them in stock. Finally I bought two more on here. These are great. We run a photography business specializing in weddings. We will go thru over 60 batteries a night, so I need to be able to charge lateg numbers of batteries, and when in a hurry I need to have a fast charger. These work great for this.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome   January 30, 2008

Best charger out there. Has a soft charge mode (takes about 4-6 hrs) or a normal charge mode (2-4 hrs). Charges both the old NiCd batteries as well as the NiMH. User interface is simple enough. It detects the batteries, does a quick check of how much juice is left in each one of them, and then begins to charge all at the same time. Each independent cell has its own meter and stops charging when done - It doesnt work off a timer like most chargers (it actuallys stops charging when the battery is full).

5 out of 5 stars Works like a charm   December 21, 2007

The unit does what it's supposed to do well: charge batteries. I can charge ONE battery alone or eight batteries concurrently. Ways to get into the various modes is cryptic, so reading the manual once will be beneficial if you want to "condition" your battery, for instance.

This unit charges AA and AAA batteries.

I wish I never wasted money on other chargers.

2 out of 5 stars worked OK for a few weeks...   September 4, 2007

I was fairly happy with this charger for a few weeks, although the user interface (and yes, it has one) is not intuitive - I had to read the manual to understand what its modes are and what the display is trying to say.

Unfortunately, it died for no obvious reason after a few weeks. Called Maha tech support - they were helpful and sympathetic. Once we ran some diagnostics and they concluded it was really dead, they took my name & address and promised me a replacement unit.

No replacement unit ever arrived - it's been > 1 month. Given that I can do other profitable things with my time, all I accomplished by calling them was to double the cost of a dead gadget.

I think it is a decently-designed product, kudos for trying to innovate, cost-reduced to the point of being too delicate for its job, and backed by a flakey support system.

5 out of 5 stars An amazing charger   December 8, 2006

The Maha MH-C801D charger is a nice change after I've ruined so many batteries with those 15 minute chargers. I'm using a combination of ENELOOP AA and Energizer 2500mah AA batteries and I am pleased with the results. The battery conditioning made some of my old batteries usable again, and the eight independent charging circuits mean that all the batteries are fully charged.
