Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Buy the Tippmann A-5 Flatline barrel and the Core Tactical Shroud as a combo kit! This sturdy tactical shroud gives you the ability to add any standard sight, flashlight, or other tactical gear to your Flatline barrel, while also giving your marker a new, more realistic look. The Flatline barrel, previously only available for the Custom 98, is now available for the A-5. The Tippmann patented A-5 Flatline Barrel System puts backspin on the ball, which allows for upto 100 feet of increased firing distance, while still maintaining breaks on impact. The Flatline Technology produces a level and accurate shot which carries 50% farther than traditional barrels. Grab this barrel system and increase the amount of targets you can hit, which would ordinarily be out of range.

2 out of 5 stars Velocity drops steeply at a range   August 21, 2008
I purchased this barrel for my 98 Custom some time ago. After using it for a whole summer and struggling to keep my shots in a tight group I would not reccomend this "upgrade". The installation has to be just right for this barrel to even work, and before anyone flames me I used Marbalizer paint and a nitro tank for consistency. My biggest problem however is the lack of speed toward the end of the shots. Sure an extra 50-100 feet of range is nice, but not if your target can literally dodge your paintball. I have been on the recieving end of the flatline at range and it is little more than a joke. I'm midly out of shape but I can still easily dodge the incoming rounds from a flatline at 150-200 feet, or better still stand up and let them bounce off of me. Save yourself $100 and buy a J&J ceramic or the like. The end shot velocity with this barrel is almost useless.

1 out of 5 stars Worst paintball upgrade ever!   June 21, 2008
I sent this item back. Made my short range accuracy horrible. Added distance to my long range shots but with zero accuracy. I hated this barrel on my Tippman 98 Custom. The barrel added so much backspin the balls never hit the same area twice.

5 out of 5 stars Flatline review   June 11, 2008
This product is not for all players. If you can't understand the simple logistics of installation and proper tuning then stick with the stock barrel, or by an upgraded barrel. The top piece that attaches to the gun is kind of a crappy plastic, but once you screw it on it's not as bad as once thought. Installation takes about 30 minutes given how much you know about your gun, and how to assemble it.
Proper assembly will require you to take the gun apart. I haven't met anyone who has been able to screw it in without taking the gun apart, but that's the most difficult part. Take the time to install it right and you'll be surprised at the results it gives you.

You have to have a constant pressure from your CO2 tank. I might suggest purchasing a regulator otherwise when your tank gets low you'll see bad results, but that would happen for any barrel really.

3 out of 5 stars It's pretty cool.   February 19, 2008

I found out that installing this was a little difficult cause you have to use some tools but not extremely time consuming. The "tactical shroud" gives it a cool look and all but I wasn't extremely impressed with the flatline barrel. I used evpensive paintballs so I'm pretty sure it was the barrel that was sending the balls left and right. They did go a little a bit farther but now I'm looking how to make my gun more acurate.

5 out of 5 stars EXALENT!!!   January 22, 2008
This is a very good upgrade for your 98C i didnt buy this off the person BUT i do have a 98C with the upgrade on it. You have range but as for the probability of hitting is very low BUT you can fix that!

this is for every one who wants to fix this lil prob what you do is go and get a low pressure chamber or a expansion chamber ether will do,what this will do is keep a constant psi on your gun and it will help it out with the flatline and BAM your hitting bum holes from 60 feet away!
