Product Description New Page 1This is the new and improved Rocket Cock II. Quick and easy installation; does not require you to open the gun.Ever have one of those days where you go to the field and during the first game you take one in the cock slot - then the next 45 minutes you are in the staging area cleaning your gun? Well, with the new improved rocket cock it will never happen again. The Rocket Cock will mount over your cocking slot keeping out all the dirt and paint, which will result in less cleaning and, some people say, a more quiet gun. Plus you get a cool rear cocking device, no more external moving parts to hit. This new design has reinforced mounting holes to eliminate breakage, an anti-movement securing latch to eliminate unnecessary travel, and is made out of a much stronger and durable glass-fiber filled composite material to make this an almost indestructible item. Will work on the Model 98, Custom and Custom Pro.

A very useful and easy mod August 29, 2008 Look at the picture. That's all the parts. So for those of you who aren't technically inclined, you can still do this modification with no trouble.
Basically what the Rocket Cock does is cover that open slot in the back where your bolt is. Pop off the protective rubber cap on the bolt handle, remove the bolts already in the gun, slip the rocket cock over the hole, put in the new bolts, and you're done.
This upgrade keeps out all the debris that would otherwise get in that slot, which will make marker maintenance MUCH easier. Also, once you pull the ring back to cock the gun, it returns to the forward position (the one you see in the picture), so outside nothing is moving. This lessens the chance of something getting caught, which is painful if that something happens to be attached to you.
My one, very minor, complaint is that the Rocket Cock handle lies nearly flush to the body of the marker, which means it will rub against almost any stock you put on the 98 (because most of those stocks have a ring you need to tighten to secure the stock, and those rings tend to be a millimeter or two thicker than the 98's body). This can make the initial cock difficult or keep the Rocket Cock ever so slightly not flush to the surface.
All in all though, the benefits far, far outweigh the drawbacks. The 98 is already a workhorse, but this simple mod makes it even more user-friendly and longer-lasting.
