About Planet Bike In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment. Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact. Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, they strive to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short ten year history, they have made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the 4-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that ten years ago started as a one man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve their product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

Bright white August 26, 2008 These lights work well, seem to be sturdy in construction and one battery seems to last quite a while. I'm very pleased with them but I couldn't give them 5 stars due to the design of the white light. I had been using them for about a week and had to take an extra early ride in to work. It was my first when it was dark out. When I turned on the white light on the handlebars it shone in a wide arc, over 180 degrees up and down and left and right. I couldn't see because the light was shinning in my face as well as everywhere else. A piece of black tape on the top part of the light and I was soon on my way. An easy fix to this if it happens to you. Still riding with it and it is still working well. It's getting a bit darker every morning this time of year. As other have noted this light shouldn't be counted on to light your way in the dark (I usually ride on lighted streets) but it will make you much more visible to others on the road.
Good Little Blinkers July 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very bright and eye catching. They use quality super Leds so this things are visible from a good distance, especially the headlight. The small size is great to carry them around in any saddle pouch or riding bag.
Excellent product July 17, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The lights work very efficiently and they are nice and compact. Assembly was easy and they are pleasant to look at also.
Best little lights ten bucks can buy July 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I needed lights to use around dusk, and these are exactly what I was looking for. They're sturdy and bright, although probably not bright enough to use late at night (but in my neighborhood, you have bigger problems than getting run over if you ride after dark...sigh..).
Not Good For Daytime Safety July 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased these for my commute to work during daylight hours. I travel along two lane roads that have lots of shadows due to trees. My concern has been that with the right angle of sunlight, a driver will over look me.
For my purpose, these LEDs are just not bright enough nor do they have enough spread for day time riding. Even riding at dusk or on cloudy days through shadows, the LEDS just dont put out enough light where I felt as though drivers could see me. I returned these and purchased the more expensive three LED Planet Bike for the rear, and the Blackburn Quadrant for the front. Its 4x the price, but probably whats needed.
