Product Description
The adidas Italia was first introduced in 1959 as a all-around indoor shoe for athletes, coaches and instructors; it was the most-worn shoe at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. This update, the adidas Italia '74, features a full-leather upper with a suede toe bumper, EVA midsole and a blown rubber outsole.

Amazon.com Product Description
Liven up your sporty look with the Italia 74. Brought to you by the genius that is adidas, this lace-up is a modern update of the indoor athletic shoe used in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. Va bene! An EVA midsole delivers enviable shock absorption, while the full leather upper and suede toe bumper provide flexible support and ample foot protection. A durable blown rubber outsole completes the package for all-conditions traction.

4 out of 5 stars bonitos y bien comodos   June 6, 2008

5 out of 5 stars A stylish casual shoe   May 26, 2008
I bought this pair of shoes about nine months ago and couldn't be happier. Adidas sizes tend to run a little narrow, but if you know what size you wear, then this is a great price for a casual shoe. I've received numerous compliments on the style and had people ask me where I bought them and for how much. I'd say they're not really for sport--more for just everyday wear and to go with jeans. I'll probably get another pair in a different color when these finally wear out.

5 out of 5 stars Great shoes at great price   April 21, 2008
Comfortable to walk long distances in. Look great. Only con is you get a bit sweaty because they don't breathe very well.

1 out of 5 stars The Italia was a Training Flat (3 stars)   October 3, 2007
Description correction: it was not specifically for indoor.
Before it became a casual favorite, the original Italia was the state-of-the-art Training (outdoor distance running) shoe in the sixties, before Onitsuka Tiger and Nike shoes challenged it.
This was when there were only 3 categories of running shoes: Training - Racing - Spikes.
The outsole of the Italia was thick green crepe.
White upper with green stripes.
It resembled the Country II, but lower to the ground.

Kihachiro Onitsuka died on Saturday September 29 2007. He was 89.

4 out of 5 stars uncomfortable   July 8, 2007
These are uncomfortable - just came back from a 20 min walk and my feet hurt. Look good though.
One thing - black leather sneakers are better than white because it's easier to deal with scratches, I just treat them the same way as my leather dress shoes. Guess will try the black Samba next.

Bought them from a local store for $45.
