Amazon.com Product Description There are ordinary paintball markers, and then there are paintball markers that act as extensions of your personality. The Tippmann 98 Custom PowerPack fits squarely in the latter category. The fully customizable semiautomatic marker is compatible with Tippmann's accessory arsenal, including the Flatline barrel system, the sniper barrels, the double trigger kit, the Response trigger system, the collapsible stock, and the rear-cocking system, among many others. Want to create a paintball marker that represents your style, your game, and your creativity? Look no further. Plus, it's easy to install a new accessory, as all you need is the same tools you use to take the marker apart. The Tippmann 98 Custom is made of die-cast aluminum with an extra-sturdy finish. More significantly, the marker boasts Tippmann's Anti-Chop Technology (A.C.T.), a system consisting of a rear bolt, front bolt, and linkage arm with movements dictated by the location of a paintball in the chamber prior to firing. If a paintball is fed correctly, the system's front bolt and rear bolt travel together--connected by the linkage arm--to fire the ball. However, if a ball is lodged inside the chamber incorrectly, the system moves the bolts independently until the lodged ball falls into position. Once the ball is back in place, the marker cycles itself to discharge the ball at normal velocity. Not only does the A.C.T. system prevent stalls and "blowback" (a sudden release of trapped air into the hopper), but it also maintains shot velocity, as the cycle speed never changes. It's a must for the serious paintball enthusiast. Additional features include a quick-release feeder elbow, a removable front grip (for adding an expansion chamber and vertical kits), and a 200-round hopper. The Tippmann 98 Custom PowerPack also adds a few extras that aren't available with the Custom Basic model, including a 9-ounce CO2 tank (the marker works with CO2, compressed air, and nitrogen), a butt plate, and a high-performance goggle with an anti-fog lens, along with a standard maintenance pack with a barrel sleeve, oil, wrenches, cleaning cable, and spare tank O-ring. | Customer Reviews:
Tippmann 98 January 7, 2008 this marker package was deffinantly the way to go. im a begginer (noob) at paintball so this package offered a good starting point at a reasonably affordable price. since the marker came with a 9 oz CO2 tank i was saved the trouble of buying one to have as backup, the mask is nice and comfortable to wear, and it was also nice to recive the tool kit and oil. as for how the gun shoots it was more then i was expecting, i have probably shot 3000 paintballs since i got the gun and only one has chopped, another one broke in the barrel but thats because it is winter over here and it was too cold. i had read in a number of reviues that the stock barrel to this gun was terrible, but i have to say that i havnt missed a target yet, in a woodsball scenario where the distance isnt much greater than 40 feet between people, the stock barrle is just as effective as the riffled smartparts progressive barrel my friend bought for his gun. another plus to this gun is that it is well balanced, light weight and i havnt had to replace the O-rings yet! the only problem i really have with this gun is taking it appart to clean, there are a number of small parts (pins and springs) that could easily fly/roll away when you take the marker apart if you were not careful, but if you read the owners manule and pay attention when you take that gun apart you wount have any problems.
Great marker, but is it A.C.T.? October 6, 2007 Fast delivery, perfect condition, I have absolutely no reason to complain. The only thing that intrigues me is whether or not it really has the A.C.T. system. All A.C.T. markers I've seen so far have the A.C.T. symbol on the grip and in the back, and their serial number contains the ACT initials as well. This one doesn't. But it's no big deal anyway. I still recomend it.
