Initiative Activity Challenges The Group To Keep On Moving. Rolling River Raft is on one bank of the Saugatuck River in West Redding, Connecticut near the home of John Hichwa (1993 NASPE Middle School Teacher Of The Year) the creator of this initiative game. The adventurous Huck Finn boaters are forced to work their way across the river to the other shore using only the small oars. Critical thinking, balance, group cooperation and planning are all part of the design of this problem. The activity guide creates several emergency situations which causes the daredevils to think of alternative solutions. The raft has a 24" by 48" (61cm by 122cm) wood base with foam padding and vinyl covering. The bottom has wood runners to avoid pinching any fingers or toes. The raft floats on river of balls which must be continually routed from the back of the raft to the front. Set includes one raft and two oars. Balls sold separately. Activity guide is included.
