Amazon.com Product Description Featuring a new, slim design, the F4 is Polar's first heart rate monitor designed specifically for women. It's packed with innovative training features to help you toward your exercise goals, including: - Zone Pointer: A visible and audible feature on the display of your heart rate monitor showing your target heart rate zone and where your current heart rate is within that zone.
- Polar OwnCal: Shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure with the OwnCal feature. Because the OwnCal tracks both the energy expenditure during one exercise session and the accumulated kilocalories during a longer time (e.g. one week), it helps in achieving both short-term and long-term goals.
- Fitness Bullets: Shows a bullet on the monitor's display for every 10 minutes spent exercising/training in your target heart rate zone. The Time in Target Zone feature calculates the amount of total exercise time spent in your personal target zone. You can use this feature together with the Total Exercise Time to determine the effectiveness of your exercise program.
Key Features: - Display of heart rate, exercise time, and average heart rate
- 24-hour clock with day/week indicator and stopwatch
- Large easy-to-read display with split screen
- One-year average battery life
- Water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet)

Disappointed over the durability of this watch October 5, 2008 The watch has worked, if only for a brief time, and is a wonderful tool for monitoring heartrate and calories. However, after less than a year, it only works 50% of the time and both button tops on the sides have come off, thereby making it difficult to use the watch for anything other than time. I'm currently looking for a similar watch, different brand, that has the Polar's same features.
good for those who want constant feedback October 5, 2008 I purchased this because I wanted to be alerted if my heart rate was too high and I needed a new watch.
I can get over my target zone very easily, and that's dangerous.
This watch beeps if you are not within your target zone. It beeps while you are getting there, and if you are too high.
If you don't like wearing a chest strap, this isn't the watch for you.
I don't mind wearing one, and after awhile, I really don't notice it's there.
Mine reads accurately when the chest strap is dry or wet.
You don't have to get it wet first, because it'll eventually do that when you start sweating.
I wear it without the chest strap to work since it's not bulky like some of the other heart rate monitors. Of course, it's not going to give my heart rate, but, it does tell me the time. :)
When I get home and hop on my gazelle, I put the chest strap on.
It tells you all sorts of things, how long you've worked out, the amount of calories burned, average heart rate for that session, highest heart rate for that session, etc.
It took me about 5 minutes to put in all my information. You can change that later, ie, when you lose more weight.
I think this is a great watch if you want something moderately simple and somewhat informative.
Good but would like to transfer data September 20, 2008 I have been using this product for several years. It is my first heart rate monitor and I like the use of seeing how much i'm pushing myself with the heart rate measurement and especially the estimated calories burned. This def gives me more motivation. The heart rate monitor will be picked up on the machines at the gym also displaying it there. Some ones that are probably are broken end up interfering and giving screwy numbers for the watch. The one thing that I thought it had when I bought it was the uplink feature. But that is only to transfer data to the watch not to get my workout data off the watch and onto my PC which would be helpful in tracking progress. Why write it down manually? Still good product.
Very dissapointed..... September 13, 2008 I bought the Polar F4 heart rate monitor and was so excited about my purchase. I received the product very quickly and was happy about that. But when I opened the package and tried to turn on the watch...NOTHING. They sold me a HRM and the watch battery was already DEAD. How dissapointing. I was hoping to get using the monitor right away....but nope! So after searching for a battery that actually fit the watch, I had to drive an hour away just to get the right battery! I like the monitor but am so upset I had to go through all of this just to get using it. I spent $90 and shouldn't of had to have to replace the battery even before my first use!!
not durable enough September 13, 2008 This watch worked great for about 6 months. Then the buttons on the sides fell off. A month after that, the alarm completely stopped working. The watch is easy to use and has several different functions, but for the price I didn't expect it to fall apart after 6 months.
