Amazon.com Product Description Omron's HJ-151 Hip Pedometer is a great motivational tool to track your steps as you walk your way through the day, and towards greater fitness. The small device's simple operation is perfect for walking beginners, and it's a great tool to help you achieve a healthier, more active lifestyle. Whether your goal is to maintain or improve overall health, lose weight or get more energy in your daily life, physical activity is essential to staying healthy. At least 30 minutes of moderate exercise is recommended each day, and the HJ-151 pedometer separately displays the steps and minutes walked at a moderate pace. It also calculates calories burned and the distance traveled. The sleek and small HJ-151 simply clips to your belt before you head out for a walk. Or, wear it throughout your busy day to find out just how much walking you're doing in a typical day of work, errands, and play. Note that the HJ-151 must be positioned correctly; it must be horizontal to the ground in order for the unit to function accurately. The device counts your steps and then saves the information for up to seven days, letting you review a full week of exercise. The HJ-151 resets its internal step counter at midnight automatically so it's ready to go every morning. An easy-to-read large display also features a clock so you've always got a timepiece at your side. The HJ-151 is powered by a replaceable lithium battery (CR2032) that will last approximately one year when used for walking 10,000 steps a day. | Compare Omron Pedometers | | HJ-150 | HJ-151 | HJ-112 | HJ-720ITC | | Measurement | | - Steps

Plenty good enough, particularly if you tend to lose these October 12, 2008 This is my second Omron. The first one was twice the price, did more (even downloaded data into my computer) and the calculations were more extensive and the step-counting a bit more accurate, but it was bigger and a little heavier and I lost it within two months. Partly my fault--I was wearing it 24/18 and didn't use the "leash" it came with, even though it was strongly recommended. (A leash backs up the pedometer's clip-on gripper with a second, more secure clasp so the pedometer's harder to lose.)
However, the first one was already bulky enough with work clothes, so I skipped the leash...and lost the pedometer. That said, these small gizmos are famous for disappearing, whether you're wearing them or not. They just kinda eventually vanish, says everyone I've talked to since--slipping out of pockets, falling out of bags, getting left on a counter or forgotten in a hotel...
So I stuck with Omron (great rep) but picked a cheaper model. And I like it better in some ways--it's smaller, flatter, and more discreet. Under a work jacket, it's invisible. It still tracks plenty of info and it tested out pretty accurately against an established 1-mile distance (showed it as 1.04 miles). And I use the leash that came with the first one--this model does NOT come with one, so make sure you buy one separately!
Project Walk it off October 11, 2008 I bought 5 of these Omron pedometers for my project walk it off group at work, 4 work great, one sadly does not count all of the steps. It is nice to see the total steps for 7 days as a comparison, and the mile count for that many days. Just wish it counted all steps taken more accurately with regards to one of the pedometers. Perhaps Amazon will send a replacement for the one dud.
Great product October 3, 2008 Easy to use - works well. I never had a problem with the clip, as others have stated. Well worth getting!
Best Pedometer I've ever owned! September 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted to monitor and increase how much walking I do in a day. I purchased several pedometers from local stores but none really worked well. Some would reset when I sat in a chair with arm-rests, others were very inaccurate, a few were just hard to read. I bought this Omron based on the reviews hoping it would be better. Amazon got it delivered rapidly and I put it to use the next day. Now, two weeks later, I can say "I love this pedometer!". I've found the HJ-151 to be very accurate and it will not inadvertently reset on me. The device automatically resets at midnight and the day's totals move into a week-long storage. The unit gives me Time; #steps taken since Midnight; # minutes of "powerwalking"; # powerwalking steps; distance walked; and # calories burned. The unit seems to be well thought-out (like diming the display to save battery power when it is not in use). Bottom line: I am very pleased with this purchase.
My whole office uses this.. pretty good September 22, 2008 As part of the Shape up the Nation initiative, everybody at work got this. Close to 200 employees and each and everyone is pretty happy with this Pedometer. It does quite a few things for the price. We are all pumped up and we are competing with each other almost reaching 20,000 steps a day.
