Platform or SPD? Have your cake and eat (most of) it. December 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Essentially, this is a good, versatile pedal for those who ride mostly with regular shoes with occasional SPD use. It is a bit inconvenient (with regular shoes) that when you step off on from one foot and said foot is welcomed unceremoniously by the SPD side as your second foot grabs the crank. But if you briefly stop the crank and lift the foot, the SPD side rotates via gravity to the bottom and you simply replace that foot on the now-up facing platform side. The SPD access of the M324 won't be confused with that of a set of Crank Bros. Eggbeaters, it's actually not too difficult to use. I rarely ride with SPD cleats, but am perfectly willing to live with the aforementioned slight compromise in spite of this. Quality is nice.
Versatile pedal, not perfect. October 21, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great entry level pedal for those who want the efficiency of SPD with the convenience of a platform. There are two flaws worth noting though: 1) they are much heavier than any other pedal I've used (not as much of an issue for mtb though) and 2) it is somewhat annoying to have to consciously flip the pedal with your toe before clipping in (unlike a normal SPD with symmetric sides). Overall, a great quality product.
Excellent Pedals June 13, 2008 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I use these on my trike. The best part is the platform on one side, so you can pedal if you're not wearing your riding shoes.
I have about 800 miles on them so far, and no problems.
