High-quality Pump December 24, 2008 This is a very high quality pump at a great price. Works as it should.
ZERO STARS was not an option but that is what it deserves November 28, 2008 I bought this pump because it was a Blackburn and they claimed they had the bad valve head fixed. They do not. I pumped up 2 tires the the dual head started leaking out of the second valve. So I tried using my adapter to use the second head well the 1st head also leaked. I paid a lot of money for something that DOES NOT WORK. Dont waste your money on this one. Buy something else, anything else.
Well made, rugged. Should last a long time October 24, 2008 I drove over my 15 year old pump and now and sort of glad I did. Except for the slightly odd (hence no five starts) foot support and an overly grabby (for presta) valve lock this pump is tops. The gauge is really easy to read for older eyes with bike shades rather than their glasses on, the pumping action is rapid and deliberate and the handle is comfortable when getting up to 120psi. The foot support is oddly shaped and I'd like it if it offer more area on each side; the triangular reinforcement in the middle gets in the way as it is. My feet (size 45) are not overly large. If you use the threaded presta valves can expect the valve lock to grab and pull on them. This normally results in ripping out or creating a leak at the valve base so I wish either tube manufacturers would all move to the smooth valves or pumps would offer a "grabby" and "not so grabby" option.
Inflates tires easily but loses 30psi when detaching pump September 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This pump was defective when I opened the box. The screw that holds the locking lever on the head at the end of the hose was missing. When I tried to use the pump anyway, it would easily inflate to 110PSI. Then when I detached the head, the pump lost 30 PSI and the tires went down to 80 PSI. I use other pumps and they don't even lose 5 PSI when detaching. I called Blackburn (Easton) and they agreed to send me a replacement hose and head... when they have them in stock next month. Apparently this is a more widespread issue than I thought. The replacement part is on backorder!!! Anyway, if you want to give this pump a try, don't waste your money on the "redesigned" one. It isn't any more reliable and if the part on last years model break, they'll just send you a redesigned part anyway.
Get This Pump September 20, 2008 Inflating to 120 PSI takes little time and little effort with this pump. Prestas are no problem. With its replaceable head and rebuildable internals it will probably outlast your bike.
On top of that, the gauge is right where it should be and is easy to read. And it looks great too. Nothing bad to say about this pump
Yes, it only pumps air during the down push. Because of its ease of use and solid build quality, though, its unidirectional air expulsion system should be a non-issue.
