At only 1.4 ounces, this featherweight device has a compact design for maximum portability. Unlike other, more cumbersome alternatives, the device can be clipped to a belt or used as an armband or lanyard. It has a two-mile range and can access up to 22 channels. Those living in cold climates will appreciate the F-700's rechargeable lithium ion battery, which resists extreme conditions and provides a long cycle. Users are immediately notified of low batteries by the device's low battery indicator. The F-700 also incorporates several useful features, including a voice-activated microphone, a 12 hour AM/PM display with a stopwatch, and an integrated antenna. The VOX (voice operated transmit/receive switch) is internal for easy hands-free operation and offers three sensitivity settings. The set comes with two F-700 communicators, two "smart chargers" that avoid overcharging, two arm bands, two belt clips, two lanyards and two wired earphones.

About Allen Bike Racks
In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What proved difficult time and again was the transport of his family?s bicycles. Rather than fight through inconvenience with twine and a dinged car, Allen sought an answer for himself as well as a market in which he foresaw major growth possibilities.

Always a pathfinder, Allen took to work in his Lincoln, Massachusetts garage in search of a more efficient way to transport bikes. Drafting designs during the day and constructing them throughout the night, he put together a model made of electrical conduit, metal strapping, and fire hose casings (for padding). At first, the Allens? tested the prototype on weekend excursions. Finding the first trunk-mounted rack to be a success, Dick started Allen Bike Racks. Dealer acceptance came quickly, and by 1971 Allen Bike Racks were sold nationally through a number of major bicycle distributors. Today, the company owns over three dozen patents and offers a versatile product line of bike racks while Dick?s son Alex now owns and operates the business. What started out as a small garage run operation now operates three warehouses nationally, two factories abroad, and has products sold in more than a dozen countries around the world.

1 out of 5 stars wish it actually worked!!!   December 8, 2007

Everything about this product seemed so great until we actually charged it up and tried to use it. On the first day of use, after charging all weekend, one to the units contsantly turned itself off. Upon arriving home and looking closer at each unit, both were hours off on the time that was set iniatally, I have proceeded to reset time and lock in units just so we could use for communication on the job, day after day, just hoping they would kick in and work. Each day it's more problems, one or the other will not even relay or play sound when in use. The alarms will not go off when set and maybe once a week will just go off at some unusual time. I really tried to say ok, yours always turns off, but I am the one you are calling, so just turn yours on each time, but then mine got to where no sound came out when I got called but you could hear what I said on the other one. All in all, we either got defaulty units or they are all horible and don't work at all, not even one day. And we charged and reset time every night for a month trying to use them. I just hope they will replace or refund.
