Amazon Product Description The Mongoose Chill is the perfect bike for older girls who like a little adventure, including dirt-jumping and off-road cycling. Deep purple with a two-tone saddle, the bike features a sturdy stand-over frame for easy mounting and dismounting and silver front axle pegs that make doing tricks a breeze. Front and rear alloy brakes and levers provide strong and reliable stopping power. The Chill also features tough 36-spoke alloy wheels, which are an important safety feature on bikes with hand brakes because they stop faster when wet than steel rims do.

Nice bike! May 31, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Seems like a nice, sturdy bike. It's currently still too big for my daughter. But, once she grows into it - I'm sure it'll be great.
All in all a good value for the price February 13, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This bike is pretty good quality and value for money. I bought it for my daughter (6) but it's too big for her now so I'm riding it. As a kid nearly 30 years ago I had a Mongoose BMX bike, so it's fun to re-live the past.
I worked in bicycle shops for years, so putting it together was easy for me. Although the box looked like it had been rolled from China to California, the bike was un-damaged. If you're not handy or don't have tools you will want to have a pro put it together or check it out.
The brakes work quite well, especially with the alloy rims.
The cranks are strong, and the wheels are stiff and strong. Pedals are all plastic, but should last well enough. The seat is not all that comfortable for me, but it is good enough.
The geometry of the frame is also standard BMX and good for wheelies and general BMX work.
The only complaint I have so far is the tires. They have little tread for off-road use. They are great for suburban street tricks, but not really useful for dirt or mud.
Good sturdy bike but damaged during shipping October 9, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Bought this bike for my 10 year old daughter along with a similar one (Mongoose Strike) for my 7 year old son. Both bikes arrived damaged -- one had missing and bent parts, another had broken and bent parts. Problems were solved (both Amazon and Pacific Bicycle were helpful) but it was a long and frustrating experience. Allow 1 hour for assembly. The bikes are sturdy and well made, but a little bit crude. They are heavy and only have a single speed so they are not good for hills. But they look cool, and my kids love them! My 7 year old is a little bit small for the bike, my 10 year old is a little bit big on hers. Both my kids are average size, so I think the guideline of 7-11 years old is accurate.
Mongoose Chill Girls 20-inch June 27, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was pursuaded by the free shipping on the bike to save myself about $40 if I bought it at the store (which would have included assembly and in hindsight probably worth it). The bike arrived within a few days of ordering, via a bike shop. It was delivered while we were at work. The box looked like it had been around the world and back again, but when I inspected the contents, all parts were there. I began assembling the bike and got to the front fork and tire. The tire wouldn't fit through the fork. Upon closer inspection the fork was bent - most likely damaged from the free delivery it experienced from the mid-west to eastern Massachusetts. I called the 800 number on the instruction manual and they promptly sent a replacement fork. Other than that, the bike is excellent. If I had to do it again, because of the aggrevation of the damaged parts, I would have spent the extra $40 to buy the bike from a bike shop and have it properly assembled. You get what you pay for and I blame the issues on the free shipping - which was far from any white glove delivery.
Excellent.....!!!!!!!!!!!!! June 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The bicycle is excellent, the design and the color is highly showy, to my daughter of 10 years him enchantment. In addition it is the best mark in bicycles of this type. I recommend it highly
