 Effective and Fantatic Against small/medium dogs July 21, 2008
I live next door to a rather small dog that is out in the fenced front end. After I come home from a hard day's work, this litte schit dog barks at me with a really annoying high pitch. If the owner is out there, he tells the dog to shut up with limited effectiveness. When in the background, the dog would bark at us when we do gardening or are just out there. We have never done anything to antagonize the dog and I find it ridiculous to be barked at on my own property. So I got this Dazer II. It clearly aggravates the dog because he takes off running inside to the house. Now (I believe) he runs inside when he sees my car coming cause I don't see him outside much anymore. This thing is even effective from 60 feet away (from across the street with the dog barking from the house window).
Different dogs are annoyed by different pitches. I happen to find this dog's pitch, but the dazer may not be the choice for big dogs. It didn't have any effect the one time I tried it. However, there are products out there that bark back at the dogs in a range of frequencies...ensuring that the target dog is annoyed.

My dog defiantly hears it, but doesn't really stop the barking. In fact she barks at the noise it makes.
Dog Dazer II July 12, 2008
I got the Dog Dazer II to try to train a neighbor's barking dog. I have not used it to try to repel an attacking dog, but based on the strong reaction of the dog I trained I think it would be a very effective repellent as well as a trainer. My neighbor's dog is periodically left for most of the day in a small chain-link enclosure that adjoins my back yard. I feel sorry for her, but the non-stop barking and whining was driving me nuts, so I did some online research and ordered the Dazer. So far I've only blasted her twice, and she has mostly quit barking, which is a better success rate than I had dared to hope for. My only criticism of the Dazer is that its short range, around 20 feet, makes it impossible for me to blast the dog without her seeing me, which risks her learning to fear me rather than her own barking. But I tried to use the Dazer only as backup to voice commands, and she seems to have figured it out. If I have to do it again, I will try to rig up some kind of remote activator so that I can use it without the dog seeing me.
Hoping for more. July 11, 2008
I purchased this product hoping it would help to deter dogs that would run up upon us while taking our dog out for a walk. Tonight I used it on a two dogs 5 ft away and it made one of the two other dogs perk up its ears a little, but the dog next to it did not seem to react at all, just kept barking aggressively. It does seem to work better on younger dogs with better hearing, but it appears the more aggressive the dog, the less impact it has. So far I am not thrilled with the unit. I give it two stars as I have had some dogs perk up their ears to stop and think a second.

I purchased the Dog Dazer 2 to try to keep the neighbor's dogs from barking at my wife or myself whenever we were in our backyard. I followed the directions that came with my unit but it just wouldn't keep them from coming up to the fence where my tomato garden is located and barking. I did notice that the larger of the dogs seemed to react to the Dag Dazer 2, but the two samller dogs, Pomeranians I believe were not even phased by it and they kept up their incessant barking and growling. I truly had hoped the Dag Dazer 2 would be the answer. But, it wasn't. I am returning it.
