About Blackburn
In 1975, Jim Blackburn set out to design stronger, lighter, more innovative and more reliable cycling products. The first were bags and racks designed for touring. From there, Blackburn grew. Over the next 30 years, Blackburn's spark of innovation would lead to many revolutionary products, like the first high quality aircraft aluminum rack, the first dual stroke minipump, the first oversized mountain minipump and the first dual stage/dual stroke floorpump just to name a few. For 2005, Blackburn's creative spark is burning brighter than ever. And as we head into our 30th year, Blackburn is re-dedicated to designing smart, reliable, no nonsense accessories that are essential to your riding experience.

1 out of 5 stars Stuck like glue to Presta valve   August 20, 2008
I could not get the pump head off of the Presta valve on my bicycle tire. In the end, I rotated tire with valve on top to get enough leverage using both hands to yank it off. I was lucky the valve stem did not tear off. This cannot be good for the tire. I will not attach this pump to my bicycle again. Either this pump is defective or this pump is poorly designed. I am returning the pump. Other than this defect, this seems to be a high quality pump. Disappointing.

2 out of 5 stars TOO! hard to realese, get ready to buy extra tubes   August 15, 2008
THE BAD
Not a good product for the money. It doesn't matter how gentle i've trying to realesed from valve I end up ripping the stem off tube. After four tubes is now braking in. I add a bit of butter on rubber part so is a bit easy to realese.
It doesnt register the initial tire psi.
My friend has an Specialized pump a little more expensive but is very easy on the bike stem valve.

THE GOOD: It delivers air fast, it feel very solid when pumping.

CONCLUTION: If it wasnt that is hard to snap it off the valve this punp is ok. It feels that it get easy as I use more (may be get a dummy tire stem valve to help initial brake in). Next time I'll go to my local bike store and test them.

4 out of 5 stars Great pump   June 5, 2008

It pays to be quality and this pump is very, very nice.
Everytime I use it I SMILE knowing the deal I got on this truly sweet bike pump. Compared to a pump you buy in a department store this is a Rolls Royce.

5 out of 5 stars Blackburn Air Tower 4 Pump   May 6, 2008
This is a good pump for the price. I have been pleased with it and expect that it will give me continued good service. It seems to release easier from the screw-on type Presta valves than the smooth, unthreaded ones but is satisfactory for each type. I regularly keep my tires at 110 psi and have no trouble reaching that pressure with a minimum of effort.

5 out of 5 stars Blackburn Air Tower 4   April 27, 2008

5 Stars - a very strong performer. The connection made with the valve is tight and secure. The pump handle, chamber and mechanism are all sturdy and the pump delivers air to 100psi with a low number of strokes before you start to feel even the slightest resistance. I have used and bought a number of pumps over the years and this is one is right up there with the best. Blackburn pumps have always been well made, easy to use and supplied with long-term guarantees. The pressure dial is easy to read and there is a nice touch concerning the piping, it has a neat storage hook and clamp for storage and it is long enough to aid the ease of use without being cumbersome. If price were not a factor you could look for a pump with a slightly stronger foot plate. The Air Tower 4 uses plastic rather than metal. Still, this does not distract from an otherwise first class product that looks set to last for many years to come.
