Product Description Road Mirror fits on the brake hood.
Product Description An essential measure for any safety-conscious biker, the Blackburn Road Mirror will help ensure that you can keep track of what is coming up behind you. The Road Mirror is constructed with a durable frame with an L-shaped design for convenient viewing, and fits on any standard road brake hood. Blackburn's Road oval-shaped mirror is mounted on a swivel so you can adjust your viewing angle, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. About Blackburn In 1975, Jim Blackburn set out to design stronger, lighter, more innovative and more reliable cycling products. The first were bags and racks designed for touring. From there, Blackburn grew. Over the next 30 years, Blackburn's spark of innovation would lead to many revolutionary products, like the first high quality aircraft aluminum rack, the first dual stroke minipump, the first oversized mountain minipump and the first dual stage/dual stroke floorpump just to name a few. For 2005, Blackburn's creative spark is burning brighter than ever. And as we head into our 30th year, Blackburn is re-dedicated to designing smart, reliable, no nonsense accessories that are essential to your riding experience.

better than the warnings warn July 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was all ready to give this mirror a scathing review, and call myself an idiot for not having heeded the warnings in previous reviews. Then I noticed I had attached it wrong (around the handlebar instead of the brake grips). So I'm still an idiot, but when I fixed it, the mirror gave me a pretty good view of what was following me. It didn't shift constantly, as some reviewers warned, but showed me the same view time after time, without the need for readjustment. So, although I still chastise Blackburn for getting rid of its great metal-handled mirrors, like the one I had in 1990 that lasted me 10 years, and replacing them with these flimsy plastic models, I can at least tell you the thing worked. Just install it right.
Great but not crash proof January 21, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This mirror is great for fast riding in an urban environment. When properly mounted it allows you to check for traffic coming up from behind with just a glance while keeping your eyes on the road ahead to avoid getting "doored". It fits perfectly on the Ultegra STI brakehood on my Trek Madone 5.2 SL. This is my third Blackburn Road Bike Mirror. I destroyed the first one when I had bad crash on my old bike. The second one broke when it got caught under a railing on a bridge while I tried to squeeze past another bike. In both cases only the part that goes around the brake hood broke but was not repairable. The mirror part unscrews so now I have two spare mirrors. The only way it would be better would be if the plastic that mounts to the brakehood was somehow tough enough to take a crash. This mirror is easy to mount and easy to use. When your hands are resting on the brakehoods you do not even notice the mounting bracket.
Blackburn mirror a blur September 14, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I used the Blackburn Brakehood mirror for one ride. As stated is other review, I could not see a thing until I was almost at a stop or riding on a road that was as smooth as glass. I think the plastic is waaaay to thin and flexible. The mirror wobbled all over the place. I had the velcro pulled until it was ripping and it was still shaking all over. I returned it the same week. I am still searching for the old style Rhode Gear version that was made out of aluminum and was GREAT. Probably in the history books though.
I am a road rider and ride in the 14-18mph range. Maybe it would work better for the people who just ride around their neighborhood or to the ice cream shop and don't go over a few mph and have smooth roads(like anyone has that anymore) I can't say.
Not happy September 8, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This mirror, although the position is good when riding, is not practical. I was constantly trying to avoid hitting the mirror against anything such as a wall, pole or anything else. This is because it sticks out so much from the handlebars. You cannot flip your bike upside down to work on it with this mirror attached.
There is road vibration also. It takes a long time to figure out what is going on in the mirror. For example, at night there may be three cars behind you. But because of the vibration, it looks like 6 cars because what you see is 12 bouncing lights but it is really 6 bouncing lights from three cars with two headlights each.
Because of the optical curve, objects also appear different than in real life. So it is also hard to perceive depth. I returned mine and have a glasses mirror that works much better.
The reason I give it two stars is if you cannot wear a helmet or glasses mirror, then this mirror is better than riding unsafely with no mirror at all.
Rattles all over the place July 20, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The velcro strap simply doesn't hold the mirror securely. You can see behind you only when you come to a complete halt.
