Same as yellow Fox 40 Micro December 25, 2008 These Rescue Howler whistles are the same as the yellow Micro whistles except for the package label. They even have the same "Fox 40 Micro" imprint on them. Although they used to be different - compare pictures of the two whistles where the lanyard is threaded through to attach - they're the yellow Micro whistles, now.
And yes, they are EXTREMELY LOUD when blown properly. If given a half-hearted puff, the whistle produces a weak sound such as J. B. Turner complained about.
omigoditsloud September 2, 2008 Really, what else do you need to know? These whistles seem solidy built, are easy to see, lighweight and slim enough to clip to your PFD so that you don't even know they're there, and they are LOUD. Like, hurt your own ears just blowing them loud. I have to say that the person who reviewed them below and said that they only make a thin, raspy sound, probably did not blow FULLY into the whistle. You can't just "toot" these -- you BLOWWWW a full, long blast. Do that, and you'll peel the wallpaper off and attract plenty of attention. We bought ours for kayaking (the law requires them here in Florida)and haven't seen any better. A no-brainer. Four stars only because everything can't get five stars, or what's the point?
Better Whistles from bottle caps February 9, 2008 A raspy high pitched squeal would better describe the sound these make. Reminds me of trying to whistle blowing into a .22 Short casing. I will continue searching for a real, useful whistle.
Yellow whistles October 15, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The whistles are perfect for a pocket because they are slim. Also, they are easier to see in semi-darkness since they are bright yellow.
The only drawback was it cost a lot of money to ship an object so light and small. Shipping cost half of what the whisles cost!
