Product Description Ever since it's arrival on the outdoor scene in 2004, the Jetboil Personal Cooking System (PCS) has garnered attention and won awards for its ground-breaking design. Designed to capture and focus heat more efficiently than other cooking systems, the Jetboil PCS brings two cups of water to a boil in only two minutes! The Jetboil Personal Cooking System's 1-liter insulated and hand-anodized aluminum Jetboil Companion Cup connects directly to the high performance burner through the use of Jetboil FluxRing technology, ensuring that less heat is lost during the cooking process. A built-in windscreen allows the PCS to function effectively even under less than optimal conditions. A simple-to-use electric igniter makes lighting the burner and operating the Personal Cooking System quick and easy. A neoprene lining encases the FluxRing Companion Cup, keeping food and beverages warm long after heating. A sip-through lid further helps insulate the contents of the Companion Cup and prohibits spills. The protective plastic bottom of the cup can be removed for use as a small bowl or measuring device. Compact and lightweight, the entire Personal Cooking System can be stowed inside the FluxRing Companion Cup, reducing the entire 15 oz. PCS to only 4.1" x 7.1" of packed size. You can customize and expand the use and functionality of your Personal Cooking System by adding additional FluxRing Companion Cups, a 1.5 Liter FluxRing Cooking Pot or any other Jetboil accessories, sold separately. The Personal Cooking System requires the use of a Jetpower Fuel canister, sold separately. Each Jetpower Fuel canister provides ample energy to boil 12 liters or 100 cups of water and, at only 3.5 oz., stows conveniently inside the Jetboil Companion Cup.

Stove Leaked, No Redundancy December 28, 2008 When I opened up my brand new JetBoil, I was disappointed that it leaked on the first boil. I could have exchanged it, but the experience reminded me that it's important to have camping gear that's durable and can serve multiple purposes if something is lost or broken.
I returned mine and will stick with my current setup (an MSR Pocket Rocket and a stainless steel metal cup). If something goes wrong with the stove, I can always use a fire to heat up the metal cup. I'd hate to see what happens to a JetBoil over an open flame.
Good product, with some reservations October 15, 2008 Pro: Lightweight, not bulky, boils water fast and with very little fuel. A very cool gadget for the gadget-addicted (such as myself). If you are planning a trip where you will use your stove mostly heat up dehydrated stuff and make hot beverages, then this is a good tool for you.
Con: Too heavy and too bulky to please the true ultralight backpacker. As they say on Good Eats, the Jetboil is sort of a "uni-tasker." If you are going to use the stove to actually cook food it can be a little difficult to get your hand in there and clean it out well, and because of the shape of the cup it can heat food unevenly which leads to burning. Unless you get the group cooking system you are going to have a hard time preparing food for more than one person, and for the price of the group cooking system (or less) you could probably do better with an alcohol or canister stove.
Nothing is more efficient at boiling water September 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been using this stove for around a year now and it really is one of the best items in my backpacking arsenal. The main advantage with the Jetboil PCS is how compact it is. Everything is designed to fit compactly within the drinking cup. That includes the burner, fuel unit, and optional Jetboil Pot Support and Stabilizer Kit. If you look at the picture on Amazon, the burner on the very bottom fits inside the thermos, the fuel canister sits on top, then if you have it, you put in the stabilizer and support, and attach the lid. It has a side pouch for holding your utensils. The unit is extremely light, even with fuel. The Jetboil has a neoprene sleeve and a plastic top, so if you're boiling water for a hot drink, you can take it off the stove, add your mix, and drink it straight out of the cup.
Compactness aside, the second best thing about the stove is that it heats water, FAST. I can't stand using an MSR stove or other traditional stove, having to attach everything, find a level surface, put the pot on, and then wait 10 minutes for my water to boil. It takes an average of less than 3 minutes to boil .5 liters of water. Now, the Jetboil does hold less water since you can only safely put .5 liter in the cup without worrying about overflow, but it's not too much trouble to boil 2 or 3 liters in about 15 minutes.
Purchasers should understand that this is a "Personal" cooking system. It is mainly designed for one person's use, although I frequently use it with up to three fellow hikers without much trouble, as long as you're not boiling water for every person there and just using it for your boiling and food. As you can see below, a standard fuel cannister will burn at max heat for an hour and a half. For three people on a 2 night trip, I typically take one fuel cannister.
Also, the fuel lasts a fairly long time. Canisters are very small and come in two sizes, but make sure you buy the Jetpower Fuel 230 gram - Single by JETBOIL if you want it to fit inside the cup.
The Jetboil is only designed to heat water, not to cook food in, although I have cooked soups in it and other "liquidy" foods, including eggs, with no problems. If you want to cook other foods, you'll need to use the pot support that this unit comes with, and either your own pot, or the Jetboil 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot (this pot comes with a ringed system on the bottom to interlock with jetboil's ring system, to supposedly make for more even cooking).
For slightly more, you can buy the Jetboil PCS with Pot Support and Stabilizer, which comes with a stabilizer that lets you put the Jetboil on more uneven surfaces. Although I do use the stabilizer, it's not that important and the unit is fairly stable on it's own. You can pretty much hold the Jetboil in your hand while cooking with it if you wanted to, and I have even cooked with it while freely suspended from the side of a cliff face and had no problems. So if you plan to use the Jetboil with a frying pan a lot, it might be worth it, but otherwise I would recommend this unit instead. The pot support allows you to put a standard pot on top of the jetboil. You must have the pot support if you want to cook with a pot (or a very steady and patient hand).
Overall, this is an excellent product and well worth the extra price over more traditional fuel stoves, especially if you're a space/weight freak. My friends are always amazed when I pull this thing out of the thermos pouch of my pack.

Jetboil does June 4, 2008 The Jetboil is easy to set up, easy to ignite, and fast to heat water. What more can a backpacker want?
Efficient compact Hot Water maker December 31, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Boiling 2 cups of water done in 4 minutes and found it extremely efficient in comparison to old tech PocketRocket MSR. MSR fuel works with Jetboil when I don't have JetBoil fuel canisters. On first boil, stove removed easily. On 2nd boil, metal expanded from heat and it was difficult to remove cup from stove. So unless it's necessary to avoid accidental tipover, I don't think I'll lock the cup in place. I want to be able to remove the cup easily and it's not a good idea to be pouring liquid with the stove attached to the cup. On opening unit, bottom of cup has halo. It's not the imprint of a fuel can or the 4 legs of the stove. However, it won't scrub out. It's been useful to use dehydrated food (Mountain House) and pack less for camping.
