Product Description The one thing that probably discourages more people from purchasing and using cast iron is maintenance. Like carbon steel woks, cast iron cooking pieces require "seasoning." To many this is a mysterious or overly time-consuming process. Even if you treasure fond memories of eggs and pancakes cooked in grandmother's ancient, blackened skillet, you might have no idea how to turn your new pan into such a treasure. Fortunately Lodge has come out with the new Logic line, which has been evenly coated on all surfaces with an electrostatic spray of vegetable oil. Next the cookware is put into an extremely high temperature industrial oven which bakes the coating into the surface. Not only will you be spared the time and effort of seasoning, but also the new piece you buy will look and perform better than if you had seasoned it at home. Just like that heirloom pan you will find that even pineapple upside down cake doesn't stick to this surface. A perfect pan for frying hamburgers, making skillet corn bread or scrambling eggs.

Great pan February 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been wanting to get into cast iron cookware and, after reading the user reviews for the Pro Logic line I bought a 12" and a 10". These pans are everything they say they are, great quality, absolutely no sticking from the beginning, and the difference in flavor is amazing. I haven't used my other skillets since. They're not hard to care for at all, in fact they're easier than caring for non-stick (if you're caring for your non-stick pans the way you should). I think I'm going to buy the little one now just for eggs or grilled cheese, etc.
Excellent January 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the first time I've purchased a 'pre-seasoned' cast iron pan & I have no regrets. It has all the benefits of a cast iron pan, without the need for seasoning. You can use it right away, right out of the box. Also, the pre-seasoned finish is way more uniform & thorough than any job I could do at home. I think from now on, my cast iron purchases will be for pre-seasoned items only.
Nice design changes but not necessary December 7, 2007 I bought this pan due to the more contemporary profile. I just started cooking on cast iron and have began to build my collection. I was worried that the old school skillets like Great Great Grandpa used with steep high walls would make maneuvering a spatula difficult. I find now that the old school skillet is superior because you can use it for more cooking applications, it has a larger cooking surface for the same size pan (due to the steeper sides), and steep walls don't get in the way of the spatula as I thought they would. The 10 1/4 inch standard skillet lid does not fit this pan. I wish they would have made this pan 10 1/4 inches so it would be compatible with the lids from other Lodge cooking vessels such as the 5 quart Dutch oven. Nevertheless it is a very good pan. It is the right size for cooking for just yourself or making omelette's. The newly designed handle is more compatible with the handle sleeves sold by Lodge. They tend to fit snugger so they don't "roll" on the handle when you pick it up like on the traditional handle. Without the handle sleeve though they are not as comfortable as the old style handles. As with all Lodge cookware the pre-season is pretty good upon initial use for preventing food from sticking and ease of clean-up. The unique design may make this pan a collectors piece someday.
Great value, great cookware October 2, 2007 I have a few Lodge Pro-Logic pans and they are all great. This one is especially useful. I like the size, weight and sloped sides. I splurged and bought Lodge's nifty pot-holder which fits over the handle. It makes the pan easier to use. I'm not sure if it's necessary, but I did season the pan before I used it by coating it lightly with canola oil and heating it in a 350 oven for an hour, leaving it to cool in the oven overnight. I clean it with water and dish wash liquid and apply a bit of oil with a paper towel after each use/cleaning. That makes it look like new. I've used many pans, tri-ply and the like, and these Pro-Logic are now my cookware of choice. For the price, they are the best.
It's a thing of beauty September 17, 2007 I ordered several Lodge products, this pan like the others is fabulous...I was skeptical about the pre-seasoning, but all you do is rinse it out, spray, and you are ready to use one of the best cooking tools on the planet. Grandma didn't lie.
