Worth the price January 4, 2009 Everyone else reviewed this mattress pretty well but here's a slightly different spin on it. We recently got a new puppy that for the first couple days would cry at night. I slept next to his crate on the floor on this mattress in our bedroom. In the middle of the night I would get up off this mattress and back onto our $900 pillowtop mattress. Surprisingly, the difference in comfort bewteen the two was not shockingly different. It certainly didn't effect my sleeping. One night my wife took over the puppy duties and slept on the floor on this mattress all night till morning. She commented how comfortable it was and that the floor sleeping duty wasn't bad at all.
Very comfortable car camping pad December 24, 2008 I'm 55 and getting a little creaky, but sleep amazingly well on this pad. I did not expect it to be as comfortable as it is. It is only good for car camping, too bulky and heavy to backpack.
Excellent mattress December 2, 2008 I bought this mattress because I wanted an alternative to a bed. It is extremely comfortable, warm and overall, a very good mattress.
Great Product October 29, 2008 I have a bad back, and slept on this for a month when I visited India. It was wonderful! I never had any back pain in the morning, which had been the case when I have slept on a futon or the ground. I will admit that the Therm-a-rest Dream Time is expensive, but it is hard to beat from a comfort standpoint. By the way, you can control how firm or soft it is to some extent by how much air you put into the self-inflating pad.
Although it would probably not be a great choice for back packing, it does roll up in a fairly compact roll for transport. The model I got was the extra large, which is the 30" wide self-inflating pad with a foam pad on top. It has a removable, washable fleece cover over both pads. I would purchase it again and highly recommend it to others.
Very comfortable. October 13, 2008 I've used this Mattress for number of days now. It is very comfortable. I use it instead of much thicker inflatable bed. I've found them to have pressure spots, but this mattress from Therm-a-rest, though much thinner, does not have pressure spots.
Cons: #1 The price. #2 The mattress tends to slip on hardwood floors.
