Great backpack for any level student January 7, 2009 I bought three of these bags in November 2007. One was for a High School student, one for a Middle Schooler, and one for me, a full time college student. The kids had been wearing out about 3 backpacks a year and I couldn't find one that fit all my needs and didn't leave me with searing back pain. Both of the kids are now in High School and the backpacks survived two semesters with no problems. Mine has survived three semesters of heavy use and is in great shape. The pockets are roomy and logical. The straps are well padded and allow the backpack to hang comfortably. The three of us all have different body shapes ranging from petite to large and we're all happy with the comfort of the backpack. One really cool feature that not all backpacks have is the little pull tab thing on the end of the straps that allows you to tighten and loosen the straps while wearing the backpack. This makes for a perfect fit. The range of colors is very diverse, allowing all of us to get something we're pleased with. I've had many people ask me what kind of backpack it is and where to get one. I know that if I ever have to purchase another backpack, either for myself or anyone else, this will be my first choice.
Finally a backpack to hold it all and then some! January 6, 2009 My 6th grader could never find a backpack large enough for all her notebooks and extras she needed to carry. This one holds ALOT! She's very happy with it. Now when she has that extra binder or whatever, she has room for it, plus room to spare. Lots of compartments to help her stay organized also. Sturdy construction and padded straps. This one won't end up in the pile of ones that just won't do the job for her.
Great!! December 27, 2008 My daughter is only 6, but now in kindergarten, that means homework. She also has to bring her own lunch, because she is so picky and has to drag snowpants to school everyday. This bag is great, because her books and papers used to get wet from her snow pants, and with the two large compartments now, she can keep her wet pants seperate from the books. I do wish there was a tightening up strap on the sides for when winter is over and she doesn't have to drag so much with her. Jansport has very durable bags and I am pleased with the purchase. (She loves the colors of the bag)
Happy with my decision December 27, 2008 I love this backpack. It is very sturdy, which is what I was looking for, yet there are a lot of compartments which makes it so much easier to stay organized. When school's not in session I use it as an easy to carry overnight bag that won't cause as much back strain as carrying one or two bags on either side of me, causing an imbalance. And again, all the pockets make sure that I can keep my toothbrush seperate from my shampoo and perfume, in case of leaks or accidental squirts or sprays (YUK!).
I chose the black because it matches just about every one of my outfits, especially since I have a black winter jacket and usually wear bland outfits to work, which often means black somewhere in the outfit, even if it's only the shoes.
The only reason I gave this a 4-star rating instead of a 5 is because of the shoulder straps. I have been using this backpack for almost a year now and the shoulder straps are still a little too stiff. Granted I wouldn't want them to be completely worn down either, but the stiffness causes the straps to pull away from my body and I often have to tighten them. If I forget to tighten the straps then the weight of the bag becomes very low on my back and sits more away from my body, which causes my normal back pain to get worse. If I have the straps tight enough the backpack will rest against my back and higher up, which is much more comfortable for me. Of course a younger person without chronic back problems probably wouldn't find any faults with it at all.
So overall, I think I made the right choice and wouldn't trade it in if I had the chance. I expect the bag, including the padding in the straps, to last a very long time.
THE BEST for a BIG backpack...lots of colors, too. November 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this for my daughter in 9th grade, as her books no longer fit into the large Lands End she used for middle school. Cubic inches were quite a bit more, and all her books fit perfectly. It also contained a spilled soda to just the one compartment for easy cleanup...waterproof? (nothing else was in the compartment, either). Loved the color selection, as she picked one that was unique and didn't have to go with a basic solid.
