Renown internationally as a manufacturer of boxing equipment, Everlast started out as a swimwear manufacturer in 1910. Headquartered in the Bronx, NY, the company was founded by 17-year-old Jacob Golomb. The son of a tailor and an avid swimmer, Jacob Golomb was dissatisfied with the durability of swimsuits because they barely lasted a season, so he began making suits that he guaranteed would last for a full year. He proudly gave them the name, Everlast. Although the swimsuits did not last through the years, the name did. Over the next years, Golomb expanded his company into a small retail store that carried a full line of sports equipment. In 1917, a young fighter named Jack Dempsey introduced boxing to Golomb and Everlast. Dempsey asked Golomb to construct protective headgear that would last more than 15 rounds of intensive boxing training. Golomb specially designed the training gear for Dempsey. In 1919, Dempsey won the world?s heavyweight championship wearing boxing gloves made for him by Golomb. Everlast became the headquarters for boxing equipment throughout the world. In 1925, Golomb designed elastic-waist trunks to replace the leather-belted trunks then worn by boxers. These trunks, now known as boxer trunks, immediately became famous. Jacob Golomb ran the business until he passed away in the early 1950?s and his son, Dan, took over. In 1958, Ben Nadorf joined Everlast and purchased 50% of the company from the Golomb family. When Dan Golomb passed away in 1995, Nadorf purchased the family?s remaining 50% interest. Nadorf remained the President and Principle Share Holder of Everlast until October 24, 2000. Everlast men?s and women?s apparel and accessories continue today to be tremendously successful both inside and outside the ring. In addition, Everlast boxing trunks and equipment remain the proud and undefeated champion of the boxing industry for more than 90 years. The history continues, as the name states. Everlast has a traditional past and a knockout future. What's in the Box? Red Everlast bag, black plastic stand, Ever-Flex collar, black plastic bag stabilizer Manufacturer Warranty 1 year

Good bag, Bad instructions December 26, 2008 I'm trying to put this together for my 12 year old son. There are 4 pcs. of foam and the instruction only mention 3 of them. The ribbed foam is too small by 8 inches! It wont wrap around center post!Put it together anyway, but 1/4 of bag will be thinner! I emailed Everlast, lets see what they say.
STOP DO NOT PURCHASE December 25, 2008 Purchased Everlast free standing heavy bag for Christmas present for my 10 year old son - he excitedly put his new boxing gloves on and leveled his first punch on the bag which immediately snapped in half - don't purchase - we plan to return and get a hanging punching bag for him. Big let down.
terrible. December 22, 2008 I had this put together for an hour and the thing literally snapped in two. I am a 125 pound female. That is ridiculous. Screwing the screws and washers in was one of the hardest things I've ever done, and I've birthed children. The padding was about 8" too short to ever make a seam while putting it together, and once on, it never stayed put. I was concerned that I'd break my foot when the padded bag moved up with every kick. Maybe I just got the crappy one in the shipment, the one with halfassed parts or something, but I returned it and I will not buy another. I'm moving on to a Wave master.
Don't Buy December 22, 2008 I am 5'8" and 185, I worked out with this for only three days before it broke. The plastic "stem" that holds the bag broke in half. Before that, I had it filled with sand and it would move. This is a good product only if you want to hit lightly.
Good Alternative October 23, 2008 I bought this bag awhile ago thinking that for my stand up it would be good. As others have mentioned this DOESN'T replace a heavy hanging bag but this is still a great item. The problem I had when I bought this bag was expecting it to be tall enough for me to punch but sadly this is not the case. I'm a little taller so my punches go over the bag but this is great if you want to practice body shots or working the inside. Now, for why I think this bag is great. I practice Muay Thai and I swear to you that there is no other product better for practicing simple kicks and knees. This bag is the perfect height for working the Muay Thai clinch of course nothing beats having someone wearing pads but if you don't have the luxury of someone to spar with this bag is what you need. On a side note if you have children this would be a perfect item if they are into karate or other martial arts because it's the perfect height for good standing posture. The base of the bag is sturdy some people fill it with water or others fill it with sand but the bag it's self has other uses that can be used for training. If you have a smooth floor like in your garage you can spar with the bag and then push it the length of the floor and then stand up spar and repeat. This is great conditioning for mixed martial arts and gives you a total body work out: Hips, shoulders, arms, legs and if done properly you can improve your cardio and endurance.
