Great product but buy it SOMEWHERE ELSE October 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I agree with all the recommendations but DO NOT BUY IT ON AMAZON. I got it from Home Depot (same 3 bags, 60 days each, same weight/dimensions) but it is only $7.89 at Home Depot (plus no $14 for shipping) if you have a Home Depot give them a call before blowing an extra 36 bucks on this! but DO buy it. they really work!
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT September 3, 2008 Serious damage caused to articles of clothing (through normal usage) by Damp Rid product leakage. In my attempt to resolve this loss with Damp Rids Insurance Adjuster, I sent the clothes and the at fault Damp Rid hanging bag with my assessment of the loss I incurred (valued at min. $1000). In their response, the company spat in my face in their attempt to resolve this loss. Io was offered $90, no admittance of fault, and it was made apparent that as a consumer, I was not a concern for them. Needless to say, I am no longer the loyal user I was, and vowed to share my experience in every venue I could find.
Great Product but please be careful! August 22, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Ive used the Damp Rid hanging pouches many times in smaller rooms and closets with good results. Please be aware though that this product can be dangerous to children and pets.
My 1 yr old dog had managed to get into a bag that I had hanging and was at the time halfway filled with water. When I found him he had what looked to be water (with a strong odor) all over his legs, tummy and chest. So immediately I bathed him, which by this time his skin was turning very red. Within 36 hrs he could hardly walk and had formed spots on the affected areas that were black and felt rough to the touch. After taking him to the vet we were told that these were chemical burns and that his skin was dying off due to the contact with the Calcium Chloride crystals and residue in the water pouch. It is now 3 weeks later and he is healing, slowly. Its been a lot of antibiotics, pain meds, vet visits and doggy watching to keep him from making things worse. I didnt realize until days after he came into contact with the water that it was Calcium Chloride inside. I did some research and it turns out that calcium chloride is an irritant and burns when it comes into contact with moist skin. There have been cases of children and pets burning their mouths and asophagus.
This is a great product and definitly does what it is supposed to do, I just thought I should share our experience. Please be careful with this product as you would with anything that has chemicals or may be harmful.
AMAZING July 13, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The closet in my bedroom makes all of my clothes smell very musty and this is the only closet in my house that has this problem. I tried every kind of spray to get rid of the smell, but they only masked the problem for a brief time. I ended up moving my clothes to a different closet because the smell was so bad. I bought this product at Kmart for $9.00 for a pack of three and put one of these in my closet not expecting it to work. Boy was I ever wrong! Within 2 weeks the bag was almost half way filled with water and the smell was completely gone and in it's place was a clean, pleasant smell. I moved all of my freshly laundered clothes back into my closet and I haven't had a problem since. I am so happy I found Damp Rid! This has saved my closet and my clothes. I will never be without this in my closet again! Definitely buy this product!
I'm not sure if the price on Amazon is a mistake or if it's for three boxes, but you can buy this A LOT cheaper elsewhere. I paid $9.00 for a box of three at Kmart and I am sure you can find it cheaper than that.
Works great, but better prices elsewhere July 12, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have been using these for about a year in a bathroom that has no vent. They absolutely work great and have made a huge improvement in mildew formation (is barely non-existent). However, unlike most Amazon-sold products, these are way, way cheaper at Home Depot. There, it's $8 for the 3-pack. Maybe Amazon's description is incorrect (maybe it's 3 boxes, 3 packs each?) and just needs to be updated.
