Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars good boots   September 23, 2008
They're just really comfortable. I bought them not for any terribly extreme stuff, but just for hiking and working outside and whatnot. They're great so far. Totally comfortable right out of the box, and not overly sweaty.

5 out of 5 stars Good solid hiking boot   January 14, 2008
These boots are true to size and provide a comfortable fit. I spent no more than 3 hours "breaking them in" the day before I took them on a 6 mile hike along fairly difficult terrain composed of rocks and wet sand. The boots held up well and felt comfortable the entire time. I had planned poorly and didn't purchase these boots until two days before this rather wet hike that I was going on. I needed waterproof boots for the hike and they were ideal for it. I recieved no blisters and was surprised by the out-of-box comfort, plus my feet remained warm and dry the whole hike. The boots are breathable and offer good support for the ankle. So far, I have yet to find a problem with these boots, overall I am very pleased. I had a pair of Montrails before this which pale in comparison, even though I wore them for a good two years and they developed that comfort of an old pair of boots, the comfort afforded by these Vasque right out of the box is superior. 5 stars and I would recommend these to a friend.

5 out of 5 stars Very good day hiking/light backpacking boot   November 2, 2007

The Vasque Wasatch lives up to its reputation for unusual out of the box comfort. I took a brand new pair on a hard hike and rock scramble last weekend with no blisters or other problems.

The boots managed to stay completely dry even though recent rains had transformed the trails into small brooks.

Be aware that the Wasatch is a little on the heavy side for a day hiker. On the plus side, that heaviness translates into superior ankle support. The quality of the leather uppers appears to be a big step up over boots costing a little less. Also appreciated is the fact that the soles are softer and stick better to bare rock than is usual for a heavier boot.

The claim that the boot runs true to size is probably correct, but also a little bit odd because no one will buy these to wear with thin dress socks on sidewalks. Thick hiking socks will add roughly one-half size, and a hiking boot should also be sized with extra space at the toe. The bottom line is that my size (United States) in a dress shoe is 10.5 wide, while my best fit in the Vasque Wasatch was 11.5 medium.
